Hi. Is this point punctured in an upward or downward direction, or maybe both?

Li-20 is usually puncture upward (proximally) in the direction of point Bitong (extra). When there is a mild rhinitis, the puncture is usually shallow. In cases of protracted sinusitis or nasal polypus etc., the technique is to needle from Li-20 through to Bitong and cause a strong Deqi.

I have written an article on LI 20 as an indicator of Colon qi in illness which involves Heat conditions such as polyps and colon cancer which is under publication. Soon as it sees the light of day I will place it here for the forum members to read. LI 20 fascinates me, by its tendency to report on the state of the colon.
