Hello to all members. Lately I have been treating many male patients for impotence. Success rates were so..so.. as I had had no previous experience in treating this disorder. So, I read some material, improvized a little and came out with this 50...50..
I wonder if I can get some advice here as to which points make the best combo for this diorder, or in fact, any other advice will be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

Etiology and pathogenesis impotence are complex, therefore each case demands individual consideration. Impotence is usually caused by the decline of fire from the gate of life and exhaustion of essence and blood, damage to the kidney, damage to the heart and spleen and furthers the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming and Chong Meridian. There are also some cases caused by the downward flow of dampness-heat. It is necessary to make a differentiation of syndromes and to treat according to this. Since the disease is chiefly due to the deficiency of kidney qi, below I bring an effective combination to invigorate kidney qi which allows solving a problem in most cases.
The first day – Dazhu (BL 11) on both sides and Guanyuan (RN 4),
The second day - Shenshu (BL 23) and Fengfu (DU 16),
The third day - Guanyuanshu (BL 26) on both sides and Dazhui (DU 14).
A needle remain for 5 minutes, stimulation by a method of strengthening(reinforcing).
Also it is possible to apply electric acupuncture. Apply an electro-acupuncture device to Qugu (RN 2., Rangu (KI 2), and four pairs of points Shangliao (BL 3l), Zhongliao (BL 33), Ciliao (BL 32) and Xialiao (BL 34) on both sides of the body, using low-frequency pulse circuit. The treatment lasts three to five minutes each time. When puncturing at Qugu, it's better to conduct the needling sensation towards the external genitalia.
Best regards!

Hazmin, can you explain the logic behind selecting Du-16 and B-11?

A basic point-combination which I have found useful for impotence is as follows:
Ren-4/ Ren-6/ Sp-6.......... for 20 min, then:
B-23/ B-25/ B-37........... for 10 more min.
This is only a basic formula, and with the right needle manipulation, gives excellent results. As Hazmin has said, it is important to make a diagnosis before treatment. So, if you find that your patient has a liver Qi stagnation at the core of the problem, you may also add:
Ren-3 and Liv-8 or any other fitting combination, even one based on the five-phases logical insight. Or, in quite many other circumstances, you will find out the impotence issue is mainly due to apprehension or anxiety background. In such cases it is advisable to use:
H-7/ P-6/ Yintang/ Sp-6 and the like, in order to relieve tension and anxiety.
Hope this helps.
P.S.
Make sure though, as Hazmin has previously mentioned, to conduct needle sensation to ther sexual organs, especially (and is much easier to do...) from the abdominal points that you use.

Shmuel Halevi.
The analysis of case history made by you and published on your site are excellent.
They are similar to the analysis game of chess made by the great grand master.
I agree with all that you have written.
About logic of selecting Du-16 and B-11, I can tell nothing in this occasion.
I have taken this prescription from materials of the Beijing TCM training center. However I many times apply this combination into practice and it works well. In your article “Classical Points Combinations” you wrote that: “this form (empirical points-combinations) lacks their theoretical background in most cases”.

Thanks Hazmin. The fact is that I haven't seen before this combination for impotence. Not that this fact invalidates its efficacy by any way. Thanks for sharing.
