Hi. How deep can this point be punctured?
|Posted on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 22:08: |
Ren-12 is usually punctured between 1-2 cm deep. In any case, it must be punctured until there is Deqi. Its Deqi usually spreads around the point or penetrates deep and vertically until the spine. Sometimes, when there is abdominal pain in the right or left sides of the epi or hypo gastrium, it is possible to manipulate the Deqi to travel to the area of the pain. When this is done, the clinical results are better.

I usually point the needle down in order to reverse a rebellious Chi with nausea.
Are there instances when you can point the needle in an upward direction?

Usually not. Ren-12 is, in most cases, pointed perpendicularly or downward as you mentioned. In some cases, it may be directed horizontally left or right as mentioned on my previous answer.

Can one use cv-12 alone for morning sickness?
|Posted on Saturday, April 14, 2007 - 08:42: |
Yes definitely. In fact, you may even teach a pregnant woman how to stimulate this point for her own relief. Using, for instance, the Chopstick Acupuncture technique on this point gives immediate and excellent results. In most "do it yourself" manuals of "instant acupuncture", pregnant women are tought how to locate P-6 Neiguan, and stimulate this point for morning sickness relief. I find that stimulating Ren-12 Zhongwan is a superior option, giving a quicker and stronger effect.

CV 12 works great for the Stomach and all of the Fu organs. But the nausea
would be better treated with PC 6 along with herbs that help with nausea
like ginger, etc...
Any others? Shmuel?

It is indeed a challenge you have been taking here Marj, even for an experienced practitioner. I suggest that you take it one step at a time. Try to isolate her most burdening symptom and concentrate on it for a few treatments, until this symptom is relieved. This will gain her confidence in your ability to help her. Then, proceed to the next and so on. At the meantime, and as the time passes, try to analyze her case, learn her, and see if you can get deeper to the core of her imbalance. When you do that, incorporate this insight in your treatments in order to restore her balance. Slowly and easily. Do not try to overcome all these conflicting symptoms right from the start.
BTW, try to post your questions under the relevant topics of the forum... e.g., this post should have gone under other subtopics/threads and you should have opened a new discussion thread there. Thanks for posting.

I would like to advice besides TCM diagnosis cause of oedema should be investigated on Modern Medicine lines also.Tongue is pale,is it swollen or not, what ever symptoms are available there seems deficiency of kidney and spleen yang functions,Try to simplify by co-relating various symptoms and signs and then selecting the treatment plan.
