I was wondering if anybody would know any reason why a 8 year old boy can NOT fall asleep.

He is tossing and turning in bed everynight for about 3 hours until he falls asleep.

For adults I find it to be a more commen thing, and there are many reasons to it, example stress, back pain, etc. but I cant understand why it would happen to a really young boy.

He is very active during the day, goes to school, runs around, plays outside, etc. and most other kids by the time it reaches their bed-time they fall asleep right away.

Maybe its his diet that needs to change, or maybe there are other treatments or ways to approach this.

If anybody has any input PLEASE feel free to share.

It is usually quiet easy to resolve this problem in small children by Ch. med. I therefore recommend that you take him to a specialist in Ch. med for diagnosis & treatment. Ch. med. usually attributes this disorder in small children to accumulation of hot energy in the digestive system. This syndrome may (but may not as well) give also rise to a tendency for constipation or loose stools with foul smell, mouth sores (aphtae), digestive worms, redness and itching of the anal region, irritability and more.
Diet plays an important role if this is the case. Sweets, milk products, salted snacks, chocolate are to be excluded from the diet along with cola and sweetened beverages. These products may contribute to the building up of hot energy in the digestive system.
In any event, in some occasions the reason for the sleeping disorder may be other than the digestive system and, therefore, a qualified practitioner should examine the child.
