Dr.Halevi:
I am an Uruguayan doctor, and I started last year to study acupuncture.
I am reading your book Chopstiks Acupunture, and I would like to know
whether there was any acupuncture treatment for breast fibroadenoma,
which could halt its growth or downsize.

Thank you for your attention
Francisco Fernandez Ph.D

Welcome to the forum Francisco. Fibroadenoma may be well treated by acupuncture and Chinese herbs. In fact, even cancerous tumors of the breast can be cured in many occasions, by acupuncture alone or in conjunction with herbs, provided that treatment is commenced at a very early stage.
I don't think that this case however, is appropriate for the chopstick technique, neither for any other form of massaging technique. The condition involves very deep level imabalances and needs a treatment modality that can reach very deeply and powerfully.

I am grateful for your reply. I was not thinking about chopstick technique but in traditional acupuncture.
Fibroadenoma: "The epithelial proliferation describes duct-like spaces surrounded by a fibroblastic stroma. The proliferated epithelium is typical. intracanalicular and pericanalicular.. .The basement membranes is intact."
The patient is my wife, 34 years old, with good health generally, and for some 10 years, has appeared these benign tumors. One was operated, two others are being monitored regularly.On the basis of histologic diagnosis, what would be the diagnosis according to the TCM? You can recommend what points could use?. In my country it is difficult to find Chinese herbs, but what would be advisable?
Sincerely, Francisco}

All sorts of tumors of any kind, are basically the result of blood stasis. Blood stasis, in many occasions, is preceded by Qi stagnation. The female's breast is amongst the most vulnerable areas in the body for Qi or blood disharmonies. It is traversed by many meridians, of which the stomach and liver play a major role. Anatomically, it is the region where huge Qi and blood transformation take place, in order to form the breast milk. Thus, both physiological irregularities in the activity of the stomach, liver and kidney, gall bladder and pericardium meridians, as well as emotional imbalances, may impede the flow of Qi and blood in this area, and cause stasis.
In view of the above, it is important to discern which pathology has prodominance over the others in the formation of your wife's fibroadenomas. This way, you'll be able to add very important aspect to your treatment, and resolve the core problem along with the (relatively) simple dispersion of the stasis in the chest.
Basic formula to disperse the stasis in the chest, usually consists of these points:
P-6/ Ren-17/ St-18/ B-14/ B-17 and Si-11
Manipulation of the needles should be vigorous, in order to profoundly activate the Qi and blood flow in the breasts. Other points, according to your specific diagnosis, as mentioned above, should be added as well.

Thank you for your help. I will put into practice what you told me. I will try to discern what is the predominant disorder. I count on your valuable assistance. Meanwhile, I will start to work with the points that you proposed. We keep in touch. Sincerely, Francisco
