Hello.. What kind of similarities are there between the TCM meridian system and the chakra system used by for example some indian yogis? Both are obviously talking about the same thing, and I'd say that one difference is of complexity. The meridian system is mapped through the whole body, and much of what I've seen, the chakra system has only the seven major chakras along the spinal column, and maybe a few additional channels. Of course I'm not well aware of the chakra system tradition so there may be more complete kind of systems there. My point is, that when I observe my body I can feel tension/blockages also as in meridians/channels, but also as centered in to certain regions, which are more in the line of chakras. So I'd say both have their use. Actually I'm just rambling here but I was hoping that someone here could relate to what I have to say and maybe offer some viewpoints or information.

The meridian Jing-luo system of Ch. med does not relate or mention in any way the Indian Chakra system. Yet, in Taoist tradition, which has adopted many things from ancient Indian spiritual legacy, the Chakra system was used in meditation but not in medicine. Taoist monks have used, according to various sources, the Chakra system along the Du Mai (spinal cord roughly) in order to enhance their spiritual development and help themselves understand their personality drawbacks and advantages. There are even testimonies of spiritual procedures that used acupuncture at points related (anatomically) to specific Chakras, in order to enhance the flow of Qi in those regions. It has been said that a stuck energy flow in any of the Chakras might cause personality hardships in the ascetic endeavor to gain realization.
