thanx for this opportunity Dr Halevi,
i had a back injury 10 years ago, xray showed no structural damge and the pain went away in a couple of months. about 2 months ago without any injury, a pain appeared in the sacral area and got prgressibly worse as pain went down to hips and upper thighs. saw a local (live in mexico)acupuncturist twice but it didn't help any. a chiropractor couldn't help either. recently the area around the 4 and 5th lumbar has also become very sore to touch and the right hip joint and the medial part of the right knee have become very painful as well. i know a bit about acupuncture and chinese medecine philo and i wonder if you have any sugestions.

Low back pain and sciatica is one of the most prevalent problems people come for treatment in the acupuncture clinic. If you run a search command on this forum, try words such as: sciatica, low back, lumbago etc., you'll find quite a few inputs for this topic. In general, the problem responds very well to both acupuncture and Tuina. Two sessions of acupuncture is definitely premature in order to have feasible results. However, as is always the case with acupuncture and especially in painful syndromes, the competency and skill of the practitioner will make the difference. In order to obtain quick and good results, treatments should be given daily, or almost daily. This problem may need 10-20 sessions, especially if there is evidence of prolapsed disc or another anatomical damage.

thanx for your encouragement Dr halevi,
i didn't feel the only acupuncturist in this town (san miguel allende, mexico) was really competent. so with the help of your site i have been doing some acupressure work myself which has been helpful a little. i used the point B54, B23 and B60 in that sequence, digging my finger nails deeply into the skin. on points 23 and expeicially 54 i get an amazing ticking electrical feeling under the skin, but B60 doesn't do anything. i even used pointed wooden sticks and metal rods but not much response. the point above and lateral to K10 on my right knee has developed an acute pain for the last week or so, connected to the lumbar pain and i was hoping that "grounding" the blocked energy there with fingers or a metal rod from B60 would drain it. i'm a dancer and dance teacher, age 60 and have a very good knowleges of anat and physiology and also know my body very well. do you have any comments or suggestion that would further help me especialy with the more acute knee pain which is severe even when i'm still. i also have a moxi stick which i haven't used yet.

Glad to hear all that Darius. I think (not at all commercializing it) that my book: Chopsticks Acupuncture may be of great help to you, especially if you are the do it yourself type...
It is available as an Ebook and as a hard copy.
Good luck anyways.

What would you like to ask Rivka ?
Is the treatment going to be with acupuncture, or by the chopstick technique?
If by the chopstick technique, you have all the info for sciatica and low back oain in my book, in the relevant chapters, as well as for shoulder pain. If you have more specific questions, please post them. In any case, please post your question at the relevant forum. For chopsticks, under the forum dedicated for chopstick acupuncture. For acupuncture, under that forum.
Thank you.

Rivka, you have an excellent treatment for low back pain and sciatica, as well as neck and shoulder pain, explained in detail in my book. Is there something that you do not understand there and you wish me to explain ?
