Hi every body,
I am new to this forum, i am practitioner from Switzerland. I have a patient age of 57 presenting atrial fibrillations, was hospitalized several times, often palpitations, slight insomniac. He is very sure of himself, no anxieties or the like, despite the fact that is usually goes to gether. Pulse is irregular, fast, tongue normal-pale. Any suggestions will be welcome.
Francis

Hi Francis and welcome to the forum. Atrial fibrillations, despite its severity and the lack of adequate and long standing efficient treatment by modern medicine, is astonishingly responsive to acupuncture. In many instances the condition may be completely cured, and sometimes only alleviated dramatically for long periods. It is true that it falls within the framework of "palpitations and anxiety/insomnia" of Chinese medicine, but it does not necessarily involve always these two other conditions.
Treatment is aimed at regulating the heart beat, of which a basic formula is:
H-7/ P-6/ Liv-3/ Sp-6 = already discussed elsewhere in this forum. To this basic formula one must add other points - as well as suit the needling technique - according to the specific findings of diagnosis. E.g., if you have a blood stasis condition involved, you may add:
B-15/ B-17/ Ren-14 - all by dispersing technique. If you have diagnosed a Qi Xu condition, you may add:
Ren-4/ Ren-6/ B-15 in supplementing techniques, or even with moxa.
The proper diagnosis is essential for the success of the treatment. Both in respect of the needle manipulations technique, and the choice of additional points. Hope this helps.

Besides these points try these measures -
Reiki at front solar chakra is very effective in restoring normal sinus rythm.
Ask the patient to do breathing exercise. In one study it is seen that such patient have inspiration time is more compared to expiration time, this ratio of inspiration/expiration if it is 1:1.5 or 1:2 but not more than 1:2 is having a stabilising effects on cardiovascular system, ask the patient to breath conciously in this way ,this way of breathing is found preventive in all types of techycardia.
I found Chong mo or Penetrating vessel needling and contralatral needling of H6 and K7 also effective in such conditions.

Thank you, I shall do just that and hope it will work as you say. I also have another patient she has incredible pressure on her chest, kind of angina pectoris. I try cv-17 with p-6 and it helped her alittle. Suggestion please about this too ?

Usually points on the pericardium meridian are used for this problem Francis. P-4, the xi-cleft point, is the point of choice for angina. In fact, if you disperse this point alone when your patient has an attack of angina, it may relieve her pain in a matter of seconds-minutes. For a long term relief however, one should build up a formula based on a specific diagnosis, as usual.
