It is on the route of the Ren mai but classically it is considered an extra point.

I know that Yintang is situated on the "third eye" spot which belongs to supernatural capabilities and self realization. I wonder if treating this point regularly by acupncture or finger pressure can affect the "third eye" capabilities...?

A very nice question Shinto. The answer is yes and no... Stimulating acupuncture points in order to change someone's personality or attaining a higher spiritual state, does not work. Yet, practitioners of the Tao, or ascetics of other cults, have been using acupuncture in ancient China in order to enhance their mental capabilities, or help them in other ways to progress in their spiritual path. Thus, it has been maintained that those who follow a spiritual path with the guide of a sage, can use acupuncture (and herbs) for the mere purpose of enhancing their spiritual development. Ordinary people who are not engaged in spiritual practices, will not benefit from scartching their YinTang point, except for, probably, eliminating a headache or deminishing a rhinitis incident. Nontheless, in order to make you happy, there are some points that have been used over the millenia by ordinary people to enhance their general physical health. Such a point is for instance St-36 Zusanli, or Gaohuangshu B-43, Ren-4 Guanyuan and others. These points, if treated regularly by moxa, or the Chopstick therapy ( http://www.acumedico.com/chopsticks.htm ), can definitely enhance immunity, general health and probably longevity.
There is another group of point on the bladder meridian that are associated with personality characteristics such as courage, perseverance and more. These points are stimulated only to rectify abnormalities concerning these qualities when and if their associated internal organ is disordered. I.E., a person suffering from timidity or fear that has a problem with his/her kidneys, may benefit from the stimulation of point B-52 Zhishi (see for extra ref. :
